加州的人口贩运
人口贩运是一种犯罪行为，指强迫或胁迫他人提供劳动或服务，或从事商业性行为。人口贩运的受害者没有统一的特征。受害者不仅包括被美国美好生活的承诺诱骗从事强迫劳动的男女，也包括在加利福尼亚州出生和长大的男孩和女孩。
人口贩运的受害者来自不同的背景，包括种族、肤色、国籍、残疾状况、宗教信仰、年龄、性别、性取向、性别认同、社会经济地位、教育程度和公民身份，但他们通常都具有某种程度的脆弱性。人口贩运的受害者往往与家人和社交网络隔绝，在某些情况下，甚至与他们的祖国、母语和文化隔绝。许多国内性贩运的受害者是离家出走或无家可归的青少年，并且/或者来自遭受性虐待和身体虐待、乱伦、贫困或毒瘾的家庭。贩运者利用这些脆弱性，向受害者许诺爱情、好工作或更稳定的生活。
加利福尼亚州是美国人口贩运最严重的地区之一。根据美国国家人口贩运热线（NHTH）的数据，2023年加州共报告了1128起人口贩运案件，涉及2045名受害者。其中，697起为性贩运案件，179起为强迫劳动案件，126起同时涉及强迫劳动和性贩运，另有126起案件未明确说明贩运类型。
美国被广泛认为是人口贩运的目的地国。 2023年全球奴隶制指数（GSI）估计，2021年美国约有110万现代奴隶。虽然现代奴隶制数据尚未在国家层面进行汇总，但美国国家人口贩运热线（NHTH）报告称，2023年美国共确认了9619起人口贩运案件。
