In 2010, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) licensed the use of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s “If You See Something, Say Something®” campaign for national anti-terrorism and terrorism-related crimes effort. It has promoted the campaign and the message that informed, alert communities play a critical role in keeping our nation safe via partnerships with states, sports leagues, universities, property groups, malls, and transit authorities throughout the country.
Campaign partners are critical in increasing the awareness of the campaign's message by distributing campaign materials and spreading the word about suspicious activity reporting. DHS supports campaign partners by providing print, digital, and video materials to use—including social media content, posters, brochures, web graphics, digital signage, and public service announcement (PSA) videos.
The campaign continues to remain at the national forefront due to recent active shooter events, the Boston Marathon bombing, to name a few. These occurrences can serve as reminders about the importance of the “If You See Something, Say Something®” message.
