Suspicious activities and unpredictable incidents can occur in any environment, including the workplace, making it imperative to implement appropriate safety precautions. It is essential to be prepared for a range of potential threats, from cyber scams that may jeopardize sensitive information to the serious risk of an active shooter situation. SafeOC is committed to equipping individuals with the necessary knowledge and resources to address these challenges effectively.

Harassment is any unwelcome verbal or physical conduct based on one of the protected bases that is so objectively offensive as to alter the conditions of the victim's employment.
An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area. In most cases, active shooters use firearm(s) and have no pattern or method to their selection of victims, which creates an unpredictable and quickly evolving situation that can result in loss of life and injury. Other active shooter attack methods may also include bladed weapons, vehicles, and improvised explosive devices.
Phishing happens when attackers convince victims, like small business owners and their employees, to interact with harmful links, emails or attachments that could give hackers access to information or infect devices with malware. Criminals can use stolen credentials to log into sensitive accounts to access data or money. Phishing can also result in an employee unwittingly downloading malware that damages systems or installs ransomware that holds systems captive.
An insider is any person who has or had authorized access to or knowledge of an organization’s resources, including personnel, facilities, information, equipment, networks, and systems. Insider threat is the potential for an insider to use their authorized access or understanding of an organization to harm that organization. This harm can include intentional or unintentional acts that negatively affect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the organization, its data, personnel, or facilities.
Workplace violence is any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening behavior that occurs at the work site. It ranges from threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults and even homicide. It can affect and involve employees, clients, customers and visitors. Acts of violence is the third-leading cause of fatal occupational injuries in the United States.
